The aim of the present paper is to study the discursive-communicative peculiarities of persuasive and argumentative discourses and to examine the interconnection of these two types of discourses in one of the modern manifestations of electronic discourses, namely, in online el. petition. An attempt is made to illustrate the fact that in some speech situations, the above-mentioned types of discourses can interpenetrate, depending on the communicative purpose and conditions, which contributes greatly to the effective realization of the persuasive intent.
