The paper discusses the interdisciplinary nature of simile as the focal components of cognition. Simile as a figurative expressive means in language reflects the similarities and differences of the extralinguistic realia in the paradigm of objective reality, thinking, logic and language. An attempt is made to present simile within the framework of different disciplines, such as linguistics, literary criticism, philosophy and psychology, as well as to discuss its role in the realm of tropes and figures of speech.
