Abstract

The paper explores morpheme depth of word in correlation with the extent of language lexicality/grammaticality. In the typologically different Armenian and English languages, the similarities pertaining to morpheme depth of word is conditioned with the universals of functions of parts of speech. The manifestation of those in language requires sets of corresponding structures. The speculation on morpheme depth of word, along with the comparison of different types of morphemes, as well as their built classes of words and parts of speech have revealed a regularity of pattern of mutual dependence of the morphological structures and the extent of language lexicality/grammaticality.
