SYMBOL AS A TOOL AND GOAL OF THE WORLD COGNITION

Abstract

In the process of cognition and representation of the world, the symbol is one of those unique phenomena that manifests itself in almost all areas of intellectual and spiritual activity (myth, religion, culture, science, literature, etc.). That is why many scientific disciplines have shown research interest in this problem from ancient times to the present day. This paper makes an attempt to analyze the basic theories of the symbol from the standpoint of philosophy, psychology, cultural studies, semiotics, linguistics and literary criticism. It should be noted that the title of this paper determines the selection of postulates from the theories of the symbol and the conceptual basis of their commentary.
