Abstract

Implicit negation can be manifested on different levels of language. The present paper is devoted to the analysis of lexical means of expressing implicit negation. A comprehensive study of words with implicit negative meaning shows that they can be classified semantically according to the degree of implicitness into two groups: completely implicit and partially implicit. This classification is based on a gradual identification of dictionary definitions.
