Abstract

The present paper observes the novel “Fight Club” by Chuck Palahniuk, a novel-palimpsest full of literary references. In this paper the existentialist layer is highlighted, drawing parallels with the principles of the existentialist thought, which were expressed, in particular, by the founder of existentialist philosophy S. Kierkegaard and his successors. In the paper applying the comparative method an attempt is made to identify the main existential ideas underlying the novel and to analyze them comparing with the works of a number of existentialist writers and philosophers.
