    Abstract

A map of groundwater freatic surface for some landslide-prone regions of Armenia has been compiled in GIS. Archival materials were used, as well as fund materials of more than 10000 wells, geomorphological and hydrogeological data, data on the river network and watersheds. Having revealed some relationship between the depth of the groundwater and distribution of landslides the presented map allows to highlight a stable and risky terrains. Danger of landslides is high in the terrains with a shallow groundwater, and vice versa. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the impact of periodic fluctuations of groundwater level on the landslide development. It is due to periodic changes in the stress state of the landslide mass. Given the above, sites with periodic fluctuation of groundwater level can be considered dangerous and unstable.

SELECTION OF UNDERGROUND WATERY ТERRAINS AND THE POSSIBILITY OF WATER ABSTRACTION ON THE UPPER TERRITORY OF FLOODPLAIN IN THE MIDDLE REACHES OF THE KOGHB RIVER

    Abstract

The population of a number of villages, including Koghb village of Noyemberyan region suffers of drinking water shortage. The article substantiates that the lack of drinking water of Koghb village can be partially compensated by the groundwater occurring in the floodplain of left-bank of the middle reaches of the Koghb River. According to hydrogeological calculations the capacity of borehole tapped in the floodplain is about 7 L/s, which according to acting norms is sufficient for drinking needs of 3000 people.

    Abstract

The work is dedicated to landslides, occurring in Armenia and the main types of landslide deformations. For each of the five areas identified by geotectonic features, the engineering geological conditions, including landslides and mechanisms of their occurrence is presented. The following landslide deformations are singled out for landslides occurring in Armenia: landslides, flows, slidings, avalanches, plastic landslides and complex transition landslides.

ANALYSIS AND ASSESSMENT OF ANTHROPOGENIC OVERLOADING OF RIVERS IN THE RA

    T.G. Vardanyan, N.A. Hayrapetyan
    View PDF
    Abstract

In this article it has been given the characteriztic of anthropogenic overloading of the rivers. In the territory of Armenia has been analyzed and assessed the degree of anthropogenic overloading of relatively large rivers for the first time. The rivers have been grouped according to the degree of anthropogenic overloading; weak, medium and strong, and the schematic map of spatial distribution of the rivers' overloading has been created.

ANTHROPOGENIC TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE MARMARIK RIVER VALLEY RELIEF AND EVOLUTION OF SECONDARY TECHNOGENIC GEOMORPHOLOGICAL PROCESSES

    V.R. Boynagryan, A.V. Boynagryan
    View PDF
    Abstract

It is marked that landslides of various sizes and activity are widely spread on the southern slope of the Marmarik River valley. Bringing in exploitation of Marmarik reservoir will provoke forming and evolution of secondary technogenic geomorphological processes, which will reveal itself in the form of landslides or activization of already available landslides on its banks. The southern slope of the reservoir opposite the Tsahkamarg river mouth and convex slope a little above the dam, steeply moving to water are the most dangerous areas of landslide appearance displacements. It is offered to carry out detailed geomorphological and tacheometric investigations for well-founded forecast of dam banks treatment.

GROUNDWATER FLOW OF THE AKHURYAN RIVER BASIN (in the territory of the Republic of Armenia)

    V.P. Vardanyan, M.A. Grigoryan
    View PDF
    Abstract

In the article, based on the materials of deciphering aerial photographs, geophysical studies and water balance calculations for the Akhuryan River basin has been compiled a relief map of the regional impermeable rocks. A centered way of groundwater movement (paleovalleys) has been installed and estimated the value of the groundwater flow of the basin. The obtained data can be used for more detailed and targeted prospecting and exploration of water.
