The Border and the Map

Abstract

The article presents how, why, and when borders began to be used, how they are reflected in maps, and what purpose these maps serve.

Using specific map examples, the article details how borders were created and what they have served throughout history. Special attention is given to historical maps representing Armenia, as well as Soviet-era maps that demonstrate the alienation of significant territories from the Republic of Armenia in favor of Azerbaijan.
