Main tendencies of the development of Armenian studies in Russia in the XIX century.

Abstract

At the turning points in the history of Armenia, when the question of political orientation becomes urgent, historians face the task of reconsidering and evaluating the path traveled and comprehending the lessons of history. Naturally, the lessons of the history of the last centuries suggest to us the need to rethink the community in the history of Armenian-Russian relations.

The history of Armenian-Russian military-political, economic, cultural, spiritual relations is counted in more than one century. Further development of historically established relations led to a logical outcome. As a result of the military and political events of the first third of the XIX century in Transcaucasia, Eastern Armenia was attached to the Russian Empire. Since then, Russia began to play an important role in the historical fate of the Armenian nation. A new historical phase began in Armenian-Russian relations. After the accession of Armenia to Russia, its economic, political and cultural life progressed significantly. This undeniable reality is already history.

Significant progress was also recorded in the field of Armenian studies; were published many books, devoted to the history of Armenia and the Armenian nation. Moreover, the study of the history of Armenia became the subject of attention not only of professional Russian historians, but also of many other representatives of Russian public thought. These studies have made a significant contribution to the study of important issues in the history of the Armenian nation.
