Abstract

Making use spectroscopic, isomolar series and kinetic methods the complex formation between Cu(II) ion and leucine (Leu) in aqueous medium is studied. The formation of complex with L:M2+=1:1 relation is established, which in the studied system H2O+Cu(II)+Leu+CHP acts as homogeneous catalyst resulting cumene hydroperoxide (CHP) decomposition. Kinetic regularities of hydroperoxide (ROOH) decomposition under the action of [Cu(II)Leu ] complex are studied. The reaction law is: W0 = –d[ROOH]0/dt=Kcat[Cu2+Leu]0[ROOH]0 = Keff[ROOH]0, where Keff = Kcat[Cu2+Leu]0. Keff’s dependence on temperature is expressed by the following Arrhenius equation (the activation energy is expressed in J/mol): Keff = (7.07 ± 0.05)105exp[(–49400 ± 300)/RT], min–1.
