Abstract

Theater plays a key role in the novel “Sylvie. Memories of Valois” by Gerard de Nerval and in the story “Clean Monday” by Ivan Bunin. In both works, the theater is present as the tangible place of the stage creation and at the same time as the stage of external imagination. In both works, the experience of the theater of appearances comes down to the search for an inner, unseen stage, manifesting itself in similar leitmotifs and questions. In both poems, that transition is entrusted to a female character. This study is devoted to the relationship between two novels.

Author Biography

Chouchanik Thamrazian, Yerevan State University

est Maître de conférences en langue et littérature françaises à l’Université d’État d’Erevan. Elle enseigne la littérature comparée et la traduction. En 2006, elle a soutenu une thèse de doctorat à l’Université Paul Valéry-Montpellier III, consacrée à l’œuvre d’Yves Bonnefoy (Le rêve d’Yves Bonnefoy. Pour une poétique de la traduction). Elle est diplômée d’une licence de l’histoire et de l’esthétique de cinéma (Université Lyon II-Lumière, 2009). Elle est auteure de nombreux articles parus dans des revues scientifiques arméniennes et françaises. Ses travaux de recherche portent sur la littérature française contemporaine, la littérature comparée et la poétique de la traduction. Elle est écrivain et traductrice littéraire. Parmi ses dernières traductions on retient La Grande ourse d’Yves Bonnefoy, Sylvie de Gérard de Nerval, L’Acacia de Claude Simon, Lointain intérieur d’Henri Michaux. Elle est membre de l’Association des écrivains d’Arménie.
