Special Issue: Climate Change, Justice and Human Rights

2026-07-13

Deadline for submissions: November 1, 2026

This Special Issue of the Journal of Political Science is prepared as part of the international academic and policy-oriented initiatives implemented within the framework of the Right Livelihood “Climate and Conflicts: Redress and Prevention” project, carried out by the Global Campus Caucasus in cooperation with the Global Campus Central Asia, and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in European Studies: Democracy, Human Rights and Security – DeHuRiS.

The Special Issue brings together selected scholarly contributions developed on the basis of papers and poster presentations presented at the International Conference on “Climate Change, Justice and Human Rights,” held in Yerevan. The conference provided an interdisciplinary platform for academic debate on the interlinkages between climate change, justice, human rights, accountability, governance, and security.

The contributions included in this Special Issue address climate change not only as an environmental challenge, but also as a human rights, justice, and security concern. Particular attention is given to climate-related vulnerabilities, conflict-affected and fragile contexts, institutional accountability, climate adaptation, intergenerational justice, and the role of regional and international actors in advancing rights-based and justice-oriented responses to climate-related risks.

By publishing this collection, the Special Issue aims to contribute to scholarly and policy discussions on how climate action can be designed and implemented in ways that strengthen human rights protection, democratic governance, resilience, accountability, and sustainable peace.
