Тhe author gives in this article a comparative analysis of two novels – "Froth on the Daydream" of Boris Vian and "Penelope" of Gohar Markosyan-Kasper. Based on the intertextual link, the line from Vian to Markosyan-Kasper is traced, from the French avant-garde with elements of the absurd theater of the 40s to the post-Soviet "myth", which in turn refers to the antique. However, Vian's "Froth on the Daydream" is just one of the many intertextual layers of the novel "Penelope", and the Vian’s stile and moods that form a certain atmosphere are transformed and presented here in a different vein.
The article is deroted to the analising of pragmatic and lingua-cultural aspects of modal operators конечно, может быть, кажется. Тhe research shows, that this persuasive realize different meanings in different contexts. The aim of the research – to describe some of these meanings.
Russian prefixes as an element of the national language picture of the world in comparison with the Armenian. – The article
considers Russian prefixes as an element of the national language picture of the world. Comparison of such prefix words with the Armenian language shows that their meanings in bilingual dictionaries are either not differentiated or transmitted in other words.
Тhe connections of outstanding Armenian poetess Silva Kaputikyan with Russian literature, in particular with poetry, its classics and contemporaries, are a topic of special interest. These connections were close and they revealed differently: literary contacts, mutual translations, creative collaboration, close friendship etc. The article gives the picture of this connections, marks out among them most important and fruitful ones. The theme is presented by the author on the basis of his acquaintance with S.Kaputikyan's personal library and archives. Some new materials are publicated.
Тhe reader is introduced to yet unpublished critical essay on William Saroyan’s dramaturgy written by the authority in American literature R.Orlova. This text was written as introduction for a collection of Saroyn’s plays, by the order of Moscaw publishing house “Iskusstvo”, but it did not appear in the collection, on some reasons.
Many works of William Saroyan are translated into Russian nowadays, presented in numerous editions, interpreted by many literary critics. This paper deals with the peculiarity of the first-stage acquaintance with Saroyan in Russian. The author throws light on the very important role of Raisa Orlova – an authority in the knowledge of American literature – in that long-standing process. The attention is given as well to some R.Orlova's personal contacts with Armenia and armenians.
