    The lexical dominant in poetic text

    Abstract

    The article is an attempt of further development of the concept of "dominant" - one of the most important concepts of Russian formalism. A study of the formalists’ works devoted to the dominant shows that they are focused on the study of general theoretical problems of literature from the point of view of the new concept, so they were not interested in studying the dominant in a particular poem. The purpose of this article is to identify the main problems of the dominant in a poetic text and to consider the features of the lexical dominant.

    The proposed concept is based on the following provisions.

    The dominant is a poetic image that prevails over other images of the text.

    Only the accented component of the text can act as a dominant. The main indicator of accentuation is the intensive repetition of some element in a poetic text, so only a repeating component can be a dominant.

    It is known that a poetic image can be created at any level of text organization, consequently, the dominant in a poem also can be realized at all text levels.

    From the perspective of the traditional division of repetition into contact and distant ones, we can assert that the repetitions at the levels lower than the lexical one can actually function only in contact realization, whereas the repetitions at the levels higher than the lexical one can function only in distant reproduction.

    The lexical repetition which can be both contact and distant is between these two extreme levels. The contact repetition performs mainly an expressive function, so its role in the formation of the dominant is insignificant.

    More important is the distant and especially the throughout repetition, which implies the presence of a separating space between the repeating text components and their implementation in different micro-contexts.

    The distant repetition as a dominant has a number of features that distinguish it from other repetitions: a) the dominant is a developing image, the initial and the final states of which are not equal to each other; b) the dominant is a generative image which creates a number of accompanying images that contribute to the promotion of the dominant and the expansion of its presence in the text.

    Names of natural objects: semantic, linguocultural and typological features

    Abstract

    The article is devoted to one of the important for the comparative-semantic, lexico-typological and linguocultural description of the classes of names - the names of natural objects. On the example of the analysis of the names of water natural objects the article presents the features of names that are important for such a description - the ratio of objectivity and attributivity in their semantic structure, the types of characteristics of these objects in discourse, some aspects of the methodology for describing the names of natural objects - analysis and comparison of dictionary entries, groups of thematically related lexemes, analysis of the corpus of texts, the semantics and word usage of derivatives.

    So in the main part of the article, on the example of a comparative analysis of the names of water natural objects in the Russian and Armenian languages, the features of the names under consideration that are important for such a description are presented - the ratio of objectivity and attributivity in their semantic structure, identification of a set of semantic components and their comparison, linguistic and cultural features of interlingual synonyms, as well as types of characteristics of these objects in discourse.

    Further analysis is based on the working hypothesis formulated in the article: when in the semantic structure of the word are the more attributive elements of meaning, then in the texts are less often the extension of the word by definitions.

    The final part of the article presents conclusions based on the data obtained, as well as some aspects of the methodology for describing the names of natural objects - 1) analysis and comparison of dictionary entries, aimed at identifying a set of semantic components, which, in turn, will help to establish "extra" components in one of the languages ​​under consideration, and, consequently, the semantic difference between the studied words; 2) analysis and comparison of a group of thematically related lexemes, which will help to establish the degree of taxonomic depth of the studied groups of words; 3) analysis of the corpus of texts, which makes it possible to identify the compatibility potential of lexemes, ways and means of expanding their meanings with the help of definitions, metaphors, as well as possible prohibitions imposed on the distribution of words by definitions, etc.; 4) analysis of semantics and word usage of derivatives.

    Word Formative Derivation in Russian-Language Social Networks

    Abstract

    The article considers the processes of word formation derivation, particularly the affixation, which is actively and vividly manifested in the Russian-speaking cyberspace. With the development of the Internet new phenomena, concepts and subjects that need to be nominated appear. The vocabulary of the language of Internet communication is replenished not only by borrowings, but also due to the word production process.

    The Russian language has a developed derivational system, the vocabulary is constantly developing and replenishing. One of the most common ways of forming new words in the Internet space is the affixal word formation. Based on the analysis of the most frequently used lexical units in social networks, the main methods of affixal derivation are revealed, when a new word is formed by adding a prefix or suffix to an already existing borrowing.

    Prefixes and suffixes that are added to derived foreign-language roots play an important role in determining the partial affiliation of derivatives. The affixes themselves are divided into substantive, adjectival, adverbial and verbial, according to which the lexico-grammatical category the derivatives formed by affixation belong to.

    The nominations of acts and attributes are most actively produced, but in cases with nominations of objects and phenomena, we mainly deal with borrowings. The prefixation is more common for verbs, while the suffixation has become widespread in the formation of nouns, adjectives and adverbs. Such methods of word formation (based on borrowed roots) become the dominant sources of replenishment and enrichment of the vocabulary of the modern Russian language.

    "The Twelve Chairs": Real and Unreal Onyms

    Abstract

    The article is devoted to the study of onomasticon as an integral part of a work of art that conveys communicatively significant information and acquires new meanings in the process of functioning in the text and the perception of the text by the reader. Proper names – onyms are used both in the language and in the literary text, make it possible to study the changes in the language system that are caused by historical, social and cultural events typical to the given society. The article is devoted to the study of real and fake onyms in the novel by I. Ilf and Y. Petrov "The Twelve Chairs". The aim of the article is to determine the semantics and functions of onyms in a work of art, to identify their role in the semantic and structural organization of the text, to ensure its informativeness and integrity, to show the dependence of the use of onyms of various groups in connection with the artistic context and author's tasks. Almost all types of onyms are considered, which are divided into real and fake. Along with real-life onyms, the authors use a large number of fake onyms that reflect the spirit and life of that time, create illusions of reality in the novel. Varieties of proper names are analyzed, differing in the types of named objects and in the principles of nomination. The contribution that they make to the artistic fabric of the novel is investigated; the characteristic of proper names is given in the aspect of their fulfillment of artistic functions in this work.
