Abstract

The article detailed the peculiarities of cooperation between Georgia and the United States in the fight against terrorism. Attention has been paid to all the circumstances, facts, and events initiated by terrorists in the Pankisi Gorge that threaten Georgia’s statehood and population security. The level of US direct support to Georgia, as well as the dangers and risks of possible terrorist penetration from Georgia to neighboring Armenia, Russia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan, are covered in detail. This article focuses on the real motives, objectives, methods, and mechanisms of counter-terrorism cooperation between the parties, as well as on the forms and sizes of participation and support by the Georgian Armed Forces in Afghanistan and Iraq.
