    Abstract

    Abstract

The article is dedicated to the modern developmental problems of sport psychology.Nowdays the life of individuals  is related to stress and stress resistance, which are reflected in everyday life, including sports. Learning successful ways to deal with stress is extremely important for an athlete. Sport (sporting activity) is inherently stressful  for elite and novice Thai boxers, both of  them  equally exposed to stress during training and competition and need appropriate psychological support[2;8].

Almost every Thai boxer is in a state of high or pronounced stress. At the same time, men and women are equally susceptible to stress during sports activities. Such athletes widely use several self-supporting behavior strategies during their activities to cope with stress moreover, most of them reach a high level of expressiveness. In the work, an attempt was made to reveal the characteristics of the manifestation of stress resistance and self-control behavior formation of Muay Thai athletes, to study the mutual relationship between stress resistance and self-control behavior and the characteristics of behavior formation and manifestation.

An experimental study was organized to study the manifestation of stress resistance of athletes of the mentioned sport [1]. Observations, testing and data processing methods were used for the studies, as a result very important conclusions were made. Various manifestations of stress resistance and self-control behavior among Thai boxers were revealed in the studied groups. In athletes, a high tension was observed in the self-monitoring behavior of positive reappraisal and seeking social support. This can be said to characterize Thai boxers as individuals who are focused on the personal, philosophical, reinterpretation of the problematic situation and are included in the broader context of the individual's self-development work. Perception of social support also indicates athletes' focus on interaction with other people, their support, attention, advice, sympathy, and expectation of concrete effective help. The dominant self-control behavior stress behavioral strategies of athletes are distraction and social distraction from the problem. An indicator of the level of neuropsychological stability or stress resistance is negatively correlated with self-control behavior strategies of taking responsibility and planning for problem solving, as well as problem solving strategies.

    Ani Khachatryan
    View PDF
    Abstract

The peculiarity of this level of management lies in the fact that the middle level manager is the organizer and supervisor of the process of implementation of decisions and actions taken by high-level managers. The modern management system, along with rapid changes in socio-economic conditions, also makes special demands on the middle level manager. In the conditions of modern imperatives, the focus of attention is on the issue of matching the characteristics of managerial activity and the psychological qualities of the manager, which can be the basis for effective activity and professional development. The professional development of middle-level managers is determined by a unique combination of important professional psychological qualities, namely: emotional intelligence, thinking, voluntary self-regulation, social-communication knowledge. The conducted research works provide an opportunity to state that conscientiousness, self-regulation of behavior, and creativity are important personal qualities for a modern middle level manager. Creativity is also characteristic of middle level managers: it is above average among middle level managers. It means that we can talk about such important professional qualities of a modern middle level manager as conscientiousness, control of behavior and creativity.

SIGN-SYMBOL Ψ: CULTIVATING PROFESSIONAL IDENTITY AND PROFESSIONALIZATION IN PSYCHOLOGY EDUCATION

    Elena Muradyan, Mariam Manukyan
    View PDF
    Abstract

It is considered the possibility of using the sign-symbol Ψ in work with psychology students from the point of view of their familiarization with the profession. The issue of professionalization of the student is touched upon, it is proposed to pay special attention to one of the main “components” of professionalization - professional identity (PI). The matter of student professionalization is addressed, with a suggestion to give notable focus to a primary aspect of this process - professional identity (PI). The discourse revolves around the potential to cultivate this professional identity using a broad educational pedagogical approach. It highlights the significance of creating and putting into action inventive concepts that establish a constructive path for enhancing professional identity among psychology students. The potential capacity for the psychological influence of the professional symbol ψ on a student-psychologist is supported by an "evidence base." The theoretical perspectives of researchers concerning the significance of symbols and signs for individuals, particularly in relation to their impact on the mind and psyche are examined and discussed. The rationale behind using the term sign-symbol in relation to ψ is justified, as there is a potential transformation of a sign into a simbol and vice versa in a student’s perception, depending on his sence of belonginig to the profession. There is a connection at the theoretical level between PI and such a psychological phenomenon as “personal meaning”
A study was conducted with psychology students. The structured interview method, as well as the conversation method, is used as the main research method. The purpose of the study was to find out the influence of the process of creating by students their own symbol ψ on their attitude towards ψ in the context of the formation of a sense of belonging to the profession.Thematic tasks were presented, the solution of which made it possible to draw certain conclusions. The study reveals that the process of creating the symbol ψ fosters a sense of belonging to psychology among psychology students. Additionally, it is obseved that the creative act of designing one’s personal ψ contributes to the formation of a sense of satisfaction among psychology students. The influence of the symbol ψ on the formation of PI is confirmed the leading tendency among students to percieve the significance of ψ for psychologists as “identificational” and “ideological” is revealed. The symbol of ψ is considered as a “catalyst’ that initiates the process of PI formation in a psycholoogy student. The use of psychology symbol ψ is suggested to be implemented in a phased work with psychology students at the initial stage of their education. This aims to introduce them to the profession and enhance the effectiveness of the professionalzation process.

WHAT CONTRIBUTES TO BETTER OVERALL EVALUATIONS WHEN APPLYING FOR A JOB? SOCIABILITY OR COMPETENCE? THE ROLES OF TRAIT AND WORK SETTING IN GAINING POSITIVE OVERALL EVALUATIONS

    Hovhannes Jijyan
    View PDF
    Abstract

Job candidate evaluation is relevant for any organization, however the factors which lead to positive evaluations have been argued upon by researchers, mainly stating their differing opinions on the context of the job and the climate of the organization. This paper investigates whether trait and setting have an impact on candidate evaluation, and if they do, which factor has the most influence. The study used a 2x2 experimental between-subjects design, with overall evaluation as the measured variable. Trait was measured through sociability and competence. Setting was defined as either working from home or at the company office. The hypotheses of the paper were the following; Candidates scoring higher on sociability will receive more positive overall evaluations, this relationship will be stronger for those candidates who are expected to work physically from the office. 267 participants completed a questionnaire assessing their decision in hiring a candidate who is high in sociability or competence, while also including the job setting as an influencing factor in this model. After analyzing the data, it was found that sociability does in fact lead to more positive overall evaluations. The results led to the conclusion, that the candidate who was more sociable rather than competent was chosen by raters. Setting did not have a significant interaction effect with trait, concluding that working remotely, or at the company office does not affect the respondent’s choice on preferring sociability over competence in a potential candidate.

    Abstract

The purpose of this article is to study the importance of psychological self-regulation among teachers, as well as their level of mindfulness. Survey, testing and content analysis methods were applied. We applied localized version of Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire and Mindfulness experience questionnaire. In the article, we present the responses or coping mechanisms to stressful situations given by the teachers. Based on the teachers' answers, we have distinguished adaptive and non-adaptive coping mechanisms. Referring to the methods of psychological self-regulation, we presented the role of psychological self-regulation and particularly mindfulness meditation in the process of overcoming stress. During the experimental research, we tried to find out how teachers' knowledge and application of psychological self-regulation methods interrelates with mindfulness.

As a result of the research we conclude that psychological self-regulation, especially mindfulness meditation, is not widespread among teachers, moreover, there is no clear understanding of self-regulation methods, their use and importance. The level of mindfulness among teachers is average.
