From the Hıstory of the Armenıan-Turkısh Failed Dıalogue “Turkish-Armenian Rec-onciliation Union” (1922-1927)

Abstract

In the framework of strained Armenian-Turkish relations multiple attempts of social-political and diplomatic dialogue have taken place especially at the end of the 20^th century and at the beginning of the 21^st. Still, an Armenian-Turkish social-political dialogue attempt carried out in the 1920’s, when the military-political process of the formation of the Republic of Turkey was underway, has received very little attention by the scientific and political circles of Armenia. This article has a goal to present and discuss the first, if we can say so, regulated attempt of the Armenian-Turkish public communication or dialogue – “The Turkish-Armenian Reconciliation Union”, which was founded on the 24^th of December, 1922 and consisted of Armenian and Turkish public figures, well-known people of the time.
