    FLUORESCENCE STUDY ON TRYPTOPHAN–POTASSIUM IODIDE INTERACTION

    Abstract

    Interaction of tryptophan (Trp) with potassium iodide in aqueous and DMSO containing solutions at 293 and 303 K temperatures has been studied using fluorescence spectroscopy method. It has been shown that Trp fluorescence quenching by KI depends on I ion mobility, which is affected by the changes in temperature and viscosity of the environment. The physicochemical characteristics of binding process (Kb, n, ΔH, ΔS and ΔG) have been determined in H2O and DMSO containing solutions.

    Abstract

    In the paper, radical scavenging property of diethyl sulfoxide towards hydroxyl radical with the use of competitive reaction kinetics has been investigated. The obtained results confirm that diethyl sulfoxide compared with dimethyl sulfoxide has a greater ability to capture OH radical.

    Abstract

    By hydrazinolysis of the methyl esters of 3-(4-allyl-3-substituted-5-thioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)propanoic acids it was established that depending on the reaction conditions (solvent, additive, temperature, time, etc.) as the end product hydrazide with both an allyl and propyl group can be obtained. It is also shown that the allyl group contained in hydrazides can be selectively reduced by hydrazine hydrate in the presence of air.

    Abstract

    Syntheses of non-glyceride oils and fats-derivatives of tartaric and grape acids by esterification with palmitic, stearic, lauric and oleic acids and pentadecyl, dodecyl and decyl alcohols were carried out. The physical and chemical constants of the obtained compounds are determined. New non-glyceride oil-like products can be used to screen dietary oils and fats.

    Abstract

    The interactions between mono- and diethanolamines and glyoxal were studied. Co2+ and Mn2+ chelates having application goals were synthesized based on the obtained amino alcohol derivatives and transition metal acetates. The structure and composition of monomeric ligands as well as chelates on their basis were studied by the methods of IR-spectroscopy and elemental analysis.

    Abstract

    The effect of millimeter range electromagnetic waves (MM EMW) on albumin buffer capacity has been studied. It was shown that MM EMW irradiation of albumin in 0.9% NaCl solution leads to protein buffer capacity change and the direction of this change depends on the irradiation frequency. At the same time the physiological solution, in which the protein is dissolved, does not possess the buffer capacity. At the irradiation of albumin solution by water resonant frequency 51.8 GHz protein buffer capacity increases. At the irradiation by non-resonant frequency for water, 42.2 GHz, albumin buffer capacity decreases.

    THE INFLUENCE OF LOW-INTENSITY EMI TREATMENT ON SEED GERMINATION AND EARLY GROWTH OF WHEAT

    Abstract

    This study investigated the effect of pre-sowing seed treatment with low intensity EHF EMI (64 mWt/cm2, 51.8 GHz) on seed germination and seedling performance of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). The effects of different time of EMI-exposure (3, 5 and 10 min) on germination of treated wheat seeds were studied. We found that 5 min EMI treatment could significantly improve germination potential (by 7.0%) and germination rate (by 8.0%) compared with control group. At the same time, shoot height (by 10%) and fresh weight (by 12%) were improved significantly at seedling stage. However, the decrease in germination rate of longer (10 min) treatment groups was observed.

    Abstract

    The gas chromatography-mass spectrometry setup was used to reveal the chemical composition of essential oil (EO) of A. dracunculus cultivated at the altitude of 1700–1800 m above sea level (Aragyugh, Armenia) and harvested during the blossoming period (July, 2015). Estragol (methyl chavicol) in EO reached 84.9%. The other components were linalool (5.09%), trans-beta-ocimen (4.00%), limonene (1.63%), (Z,E)-alloocimene (2.29%), 3-caren (0.81%) and beta-ocimen (0.61%). Antimicrobial activity of EO from A. dracunculus L. was determined by agar diffusion method. Gram-positive, gram-negative and ampicillinresistant bacteria, as well as some yeasts were tested. The concentrations of EO from 1.5625 to 150 mg/mL were used. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of A. dracunculus EO was 6.25 mg/mL against St. aureus and B. subtilis. MIC value against E. coli VKPM-M17 was 50 mg/mL, but P. aeruginosa was less susceptible to EO components and MIC value reached 150 mg/mL. The antibiotic resistant E. coli dhpα-pUCl8 strain possessed high sensitivity against the ЕО with 6.25 mg/mL MIC value. The action of ЕО was bactericidal. Tested yeasts were more susceptible against oil component, MIC=1.56 mg/mL. The obtained results show that A. dracunculus EO can be useful for cosmetics, medicine and food as antimicrobial natural agent.

    Abstract

    Long-term restriction of motor activity is a factor that significantly complicates the processes of vital activity of the organism, accompanied by stress reaction and corresponding shifts in metabolism. The processes ensuring the change of immunity under stress depend on the activity of AMP-deaminase, 5'-nucleotidase, adenosine deaminase (ADA). Inosine, formed during deamination of adenosine activates the enzymes of lysis of necrotic masses, accelerates the maturation of connective tissue, increases the activity of antitumor and antioxidant enzymes. The result of the studies show, that with a 3 hour-immobilization of rabbits the activity of ADA in organs (liver, kidneys, brain) of animals decreases. Metal ions (Cd2+, Cu2+, Mg2+) also affect the activity of ADA in rabbits organs, even at a concentration of 1 μM ions, the activity of ADA is significantly reduced. The results obtained can be used to asses the immunological status of the organism.

    The purpose of the given work is by histological, cytological, morphological methods to study jet changes of a small intestine at rats in the conditions of influence of some mycotoxins, i.e. aflatoxin В1, ochratoxin A and and zearalenon. The obtained data will form a basis for revealing of cellular mechanisms of adaptive-compensatory processes and pathological changes occurred in this organ during noted conditions.

    In the article the wrestlers’ heart rate variability was studied by the method of variational pulsometry. Strain level determination of regulatory systems has certain value for estimating peculiarities of organism adaptation to physical loadings and early detection of overwork and overstrain of athletes.
