    Abstract

In this scientific article, besides our research, a number of research and production enterprises in the Republic of Armenia, as well as materials of hydrogeological and geophysical studies have been used for various types of exploration of the Lake Sevan catchment basin. For this purpose, we have used electrical, basically vertical electrical sounding (VES) field data as a control method and materials to drill wells cuts the measured points. According to electro-sounding materials, we have investigated the strength of the waterproof layer of the area and, taking into account the absolute altitudes of the measured points, according to local watersheds, we have identified the regions of the corresponding direction, which we called the map of the paleo-hydro-zoning of the the Lake Sevan catchment basin.

    Abstract

In this work the history of development of instrumental observations done in the Caucasus before and after the devastating earthquake of Spitak of 1988 is given. The representative registrations are calculated that is very important for the study of seismic activity of the territory. In this article is indicated, where can be taken the data of the catalogue of the main parameters of the earthquakes of the Caucasus. The development of the observation net will enable to graduate the whole period and receive identical data for the region and particularly for the territory of RA.

THE PRINCIPLES OF CHOICE OF ARMENIAN OBSIDIAN SOURCES IN BRONZE AGE, OBTAINED BY pXRF ANALYSIS

    A.K. Juharyan
    View PDF
    Abstract

In the previous study an analytical database of geological obsidian samples was obtained within the method of portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF). In this paper 292 obsidian samples from three settlements belonging to the Kura-Araxes culture were studied. Using the pXRF method, the chemical composition of these samples was compared with the results of geological ones to identify their sources. This will give a chance to understand the origin of the raw material.

    Abstract

The earlier described "ringing tufas", that were regarded as normal pyroclastic tufas, are explosive breccias of andesite composition, epigenetic with regard to the enclosing strata. The explosive breccias of the Ore Region of Alaverdi generate both embedded interlayer formations and shapless dyke-resembling bodies of the paleogenic age, but not as stratum unit in the column of Oxford.
