Abstract

Today, humanity finds itself at a boundary line where the classical limits of existence are being reshaped. By altering the environment, humans also transform themselves, facing the threat of civilizational self-destruction. Biomedical achievements disrupt the model of reason by which, since the time of I. Kant, the human being was defined as a finite and self-conscious entity. His question, "What is a human?" is evolving today into a new existential inquiry: "What is a post-human?"

The ontological horizon of the transhumanist person implies not only the overcoming of biological boundaries but also a radical reimagining of human identity. The concept of the "death of man" is transformed not into a final loss, but into a new starting point—a possibility of existence where the human is no longer alone in their relationship with the world. The issue of the post-human raises a crucial question: at the threshold of this new ontological horizon, do we face an existential end or an unfinished possibility?

Discussing the concerning aspects of a transhumanist future and presenting the unpredictable risks, as well as the social and ethical consequences of biomedical and technological interventions, the author concludes that projects for human enhancement are fraught with numerous challenges and dangers. Therefore, without ensuring fair and accessible institutional oversight, and without a comprehensive study of the legal, moral, and especially existential perspectives of these projects, potential technological errors could lead to the deepening of social inequality and the irreversible loss of the existential richness of being and identity.
