Abstract

The aim of the present paper is to consider the peculiarities of applying communicative principles in the process of creating English textbooks to favour the development of learners' linguistic and communicative competence. From the point of view of communicative approach to foreign language teaching it is important not only to understand the functional meanings of the linguistic units, but also to express them in the appropriate contexts.
