Online communication, being still in the development stage, is distinguished by a unique communication methodology, in which the collaborative component prevails. An interdisciplinary study of online discourse definitions shows that the informal language predominates in the online communication environment. The predominance of spoken language elements is especially evident in text messages and e-mail conversations and is manifested in the synchronous / asynchronous discourse, as well as in the absence of compound subordinate and coordinate structures.
