The paper presents the study of two main functions, those of the Author and the Reader in terms of the transformation of these functions in modern and postmodern periods. With regard to these changes the fixed archetypal language patterns (mainly symbols) acquire new aesthetical manifestations and entirely new placement in the "poetical territory".
