STYLISTIC INVERSION IN KENNETH GRAHAME’S “THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS” AND THE PROBLEM OF ITS TRANSLATION

Abstract

The word having changed its place due to stylistic inversion is emphasized more so intensifying the speech emotionality. Kenneth Grahame made use of this stylistic device (with inversions of attribute-adjunct, subject-predicate, different modifiers) in “The Wind in the Willows” creating stylistic colouring. However, it’s a bit difficult to preserve the original emotionality and vigour of this device in the translation taking into consideration the Armenian non-fixed word order.
