ON PECULARITIES OF EMMANUEL MACRON’S POLITICAL DISCOURSE

Abstract

The paper examines the French President Emmanuel Macron’s political speeches. The aim of the research is to reveal the main characteristics of the politician’s discourse. The study is carried out with reference to four speeches by the President considering the argumentative potential, the vocabulary and the stylistic component. It becomes clear from the analysis that argumentation is of special importance in the context of this kind of discourse: the role of argumentation in auditory persuasion is underlined. The terms used to highlight a number of ideas are important. As for the stylistic component of the speeches, one of the characteristic features of the politician’s discourse is the application of stylistic devices, thanks to which the speech becomes more impressive and lively.
