About the Journal

The journal Foreign Languages in Higher Education of Yerevan State University is one of the leading scientific periodicals in Armenia based on fundamental traditions of interdisciplinary academic research and conceptualization. It is the successor of “Foreign Languages. Foreign Literature” published in 1981-1991. Since 1995 by the decision of YSU Scientific Council it has been published under the title “Foreign Languages in Higher Education”.

Aims and scope of the journal

Foreign Languages in Higher Education is a peer-reviewed, open access journal published by the Faculty of European Languages and Communication at Yerevan State University. The journal welcomes contributions on all aspects of linguistics (both theoretical and applied), literary and cultural studies, and multimodal communication. We also welcome research papers focused on foreign language teaching methodology. The aim of the journal is to provide a forum for interdisciplinary research, inquiry and debate within the area of foreign language studies through the exchange, crisscrossing and intersecting of opinions and diverse views. It is expected that any paper submitted to the Journal is original and has not been previously published.

The journal does not charge any publication fees to authors or their institutions.

The Editorial Board of the Journal always looks into widening the range of the authors, inviting the researchers from universities all around the world, and accepts papers written in English, French, German, Russian and Armenian. Nevertheless,  because of the better international visibility, we encourage the authors to send their articles in English. However, if the article is not in English, it has to have title, keywords and a longer summary in English.

The journal is involved in the list of peer-reviewed journals approved by the State commission on higher education. All papers published are placed on the website of Yerevan State University (publications.ysu.am), openly and freely accessible to the academic community. Submission and publication of the manuscripts are free of charge.

The editorial board includes leading specialists from Armenia, as well as representatives of other universities and scientific communities from abroad.

For information about the manuscript format and the review process, please go to section For Authors.

The editor-in-chief of the journal “Foreign Languages in Higher Education” is Prof. Dr. Yelena Yerznkyan, the head of YSU English language department (yerznkyan@ysu.am).
