In recent years linguoculture as a discipline studying the most complicated interrelations of language and culture has found its own place in the paradigm of Humanitarian Sciences. In the present paper an attempt is made to study phraseological units as one of the most “sensitive” structures of the lexical layer of the language from the point of view of the above-mentioned relations. Based on the scientific-theoretical principles related to the phenomenon in question, a number of French and Armenian phraseological units are subjected to comparative study aiming to reveal the national and universal elements in their semantic domain.
